We know one of the most important decisions is choosing a facility, so we encourage you to schedule an appointment with Jill or Carol by calling 818-610-3228. We are available Thursday - Saturday 11:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. & Sundays 12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. for appointments. Monday - Wednesday appointments can be arranged with prior notice and availability.

SET-UP & DECORATION POLICY:

A distinct advantage of having your wedding in a lush garden setting is you will save money on floral costs.   During our spring and summer months, the garden is beautiful with hydrangias, lilies, geraniums, vinca, lantana, Mexican sage, roses..and more!  We also have available on-site, Nelson's Nursery, who rents various greenery or floral if you would like to enhance the event even further! We will provide all tables, chairs, and the dance floor. We work together with your day-of coordinator to make sure everything is decorated the way you like. We are flexible in allowing you to come decorate early, depending on availability and other events scheduled.

Due to the Historical nature of the Hidden Chateau and Gardens location, guidelines must be followed in-order to preserve the grounds and building. We cannot allow decorations to be attached to the actual building, but the wedding pergola (where the ceremony takes place) can be decorated with a variety of styles and materials.

Confetti, birdseed, shredded-paper, rice, sparklers, live bird releases and smoke machines are not allowed because they could damage the property, environment or animals.

CANDLES & FIRE PERMITS:

Enclosed candles, or tea lights are allowed if flame is below the rim of the hurricane by a miniumum of 2".   If any other type of candle is requested, please visit the City of Los Angeles to secure a fire permit located at:

However, in the event of high winds, candles will not be allowed due to fire risk. Upon request we have battery operated tea lights for rent.

INSURANCE:

Special event insurance is required by all vendors, as well as the wedding party. The following names are required to be added to the certifiate of insurance as additionally insured for the day of the event: The Hidden Chateau & Gardens; Francis and Marion Lederer Trust. This protects all from responsibility for any damages caused by negligence by any attendees or outside vendors.

CATERING:

Bella Donna Special Events handles all our catering needs from 30 to 250 guests.    They are a fabulous boutique catering company that pays attention to much detail to menu selections, decor, linen & dinnerware choices.   They include wedding cakes in all their estimates.  Bella Donna Special Event contact information is:

ALCOHOL:

Alcohol may be served at the premises by our caterers. We also contract out the bar service to Liquid Catering who charge only for what your guests actually drink. You may bring your own alcohol as long as it is removed at the conculsion of your event. Our caterers can assist you in the quantities needed for your guest list.

MUSIC & SOUND:

Amplified music and a P.A. system are permissible until 10:00 pm on Friday and Saturday and 9:00 pm on Sunday through Thursday; however, the noise level may not exceed 83 decibels at any time due to city regulations.  It is quite ample for dancing, we assure you!  Our event manager will work with your DJ with sound checks prior to the event. Unfortunately, we can no longer allow live  dance bands due to excessive complaints from the neighbors. Quartets, etc. without amplification are always allowed with prior approval.

DAY OF COORDINATOR:

The Hidden Chateau & Gardens require a day-of coordinator to assure specific details on the wedding/reception day, i.e. oranization, rehearsals, candle lighting, timelines, ceremony, etc. are handled. We can recommend someone, or you may choose your own. We recommend you use a professional coordinator and advise against family members and invited guests. Pricings vary according to how much they assist with prior to the day, as well as, the number of guests attending.

RESTROOMS:

Due to the fact that this is a Historical Landmark location, the gardens and building are not equipped for handicapped guests. However, special arrangements can be made  (i.e. rental of restroom facilities prior to the event). In the event that the expected number of guests exceeds 50, additional VIP restrooms are automatically provided by Uptown Restrooms. These units have running hot/cold water, flushing toilets, a/c, large counter space, and music piped in of your choice. They truly are lovely!

CUTOFF TIME:

As mentioned above, due to city regulations and our agreement with the neighborhood, all music and amplified sound must end by 10:00 pm on Friday and Saturday and 9:00 pm on Sunday through Thursday. Please keep in mind that the cost of the event is based on certain timeframes. Guests tend to exit by 10:30p to 11:00 pm. Overtime labor costs apply after 11:15 p.m. Those costs may be deducted from the security deposit.

SECURITY DEPOSIT:

A Security Deposit is required with final payment 14 days prior to the event. After ascertaining there are no damages to either the grounds or other property of the Hidden Chateau, i.e. fountains, store items, outdoor furniture or gardens, your full deposit will be returned within 30 days. Any extra rental or additional supplies that need to be purchased the day of your event will be deducted from the security deposit, as well as any damages reported.

DEPOSIT / CANCELLATION / POSTPONEMENT:

A non-refundable deposit of $1,200 is required to hold the date requested. Credit cards are accepted on an individual basis with a service fee. 50% of the final amount is due 90 days prior to the event and is payable via check or cash only. All final payments are due 14 days prior to the event by Cashier’s Check or Cash only.
